“Night recalls tranquility.
A curtain falls and sets it free.
Darkness calls eternity.
Down silent halls the shadows flee.”
Blondie “Forgive and
Forget” – No Exit (2004)
For more than forty years I have been
interested in astronomy, and after years of contemplating, I finally
decided in 2001 to convert my writings of my general experiences and
observations onto the Web and share with the rest of the world.
These pages are my modest collection of the astronomical articles
that I have written as papers, collected articles, or have presented
as selected talks to local astronomical societies. Others also have
been reproduced from my own notes as an adult educator at various
Evening Colleges in Sydney.
Some maybe familiar with my previous written works,
but other readers will find these are new or needed newer versions
— several being necessary rewrites or are those that have just
needed a few small or slight updates with modern discoveries or new
knowledge. Some are brand new articles that have appeared nowhere
else. The main ones of these are the “Classic Deep-Sky”, and some
“Double Stars” articles,
which do include the cremè de la cremè of the southern
skies. I have also added a few northern ones just to keep those
readers happy.
Bien, c’est la
ve!
This slow evolution has eventually created these
humble pages, which are now in the fourth incarnation. I do
hope you enjoy my modest compilation!
